Harbor Room’s Mission & Goal
Mission Statement
The Harbor Room is a resource center providing information and support for community members who are confronting cancer in their lives or the lives of loved ones.
Goal Statement
The Harbor Room will provide cancer related resource materials, resource referrals, research, advocacy and supportive programming.
The Harbor Room will strive to provide a warm and caring volunteer-run and community-based environment.
Motto
“Knowledge is power!”
Golf tournament
Fun was had by all July 10th at the Community Harbor third annual golf tournament at the Purple Hawk Country Club.
The tournament raises money to support the Harbor Room. $8,210 was raised at the event this year.
Thank you to all who attended and for your generosity.
See you next year!
An update from the Director
This summer proved what an asset the Harbor Room is to the community. We were able to provide services and support to 247 visitors. Phone calls and emails into the center have increased considerably as well as support group attendance.
We received a large quantity of newer style wigs that are washed and styled (by Central Beauty College). and are available free of charge for anyone going through cancer treatment.
The volunteers of the Harbor Room all got together in August for a fun filled day that included listening to a wonderful harpist Joanne Robillard of Isanti, and getting some wig education and demonstrations by Jan Twingstrom of Jan’s Haircare.
The Harbor Room is trying something new in October. We will have a male only support group. This will offer men a comfortable environment with their peers. Depending on attendance we may make this a regular monthly group session. Information about all support groups will be in local papers.
Is there anything you’d like to see the Harbor Room do or provide? If so, please let me know. I welcome all new ideas and am open to suggestions. The Community Harbor Board Members and myself want to provide the community with the resources, programming and support that it desires.

Harbor Room Update
Many of you have commented on our article in the September 1 9th issue of the Isanti County News. We decided to reach out to our community members and let them know what our exact needs are. The importance of us being at the Cambridge Medical Center has been made apparent and we’re striving to make our permanent home here a reality.
We are so grateful to the CMC for providing us with a space at the medical center for free, until construction begins on our proposed new site, so we’re able to help community members dealing with cancer in their lives.
Now it’s our responsibility to keep the vision alive and raise the funds necessary for our permanent site within the CMC. So we’re calling upon anyone who is able to contribute anything toward our goal of $200,000.
Remember we accept donations in memory of individuals and as gifts to family and friends.
Please send donations to: Community Harbor, 126 S Adams St, Suite. B, Cambridge, MN 55008 -
or stop by the Harbor Room.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
